Serenity Circle - March 2019

Welcome to our March Serenity Circle.  We are a Collaborative group of photographers sharing images reflecting peace and calm.

This month, I've spent quiet moments browsing through old family photographs and heirlooms, taking time to reminisce and reflect.

⏯ Play the moments,
⏸️ Pause the memories,
⏪ Rewind the happiness

What a priceless gift we give ourselves and others with the simple click of a camera button.  Some of my favourite photographs are old and worn but they are truly loved because they contain so many memories.  This is something you cannot put a price on.

I love what Aimee wrote below:

"Memories are powerful. Memories tie us to people, places, and emotions. Preserving these memories for the days when we may not remember, can’t remember, or might just need reminded of..." 4 Reasons why it's important to take photographs -- Aimee

Next in the circle is my lovely friend Amy Smith, Anchorage, Alaska Photographer with The Last Great Race.

Absolutely lovely thoughts and images this month, Wendy! I love looking at old photographs too, and make a point to do that when ever I visit my mother.

Thank you so much Eileen. The one thing I wish I had more of is photographs of my mum. The ones I have are so special. xx

Thank you Jillian. You know me for old-worldly vintage style imagery. I just can't get enough of it. :D

I am drooling!!! These are beautiful! Love the elements you've included and those boards for the foundation are fantastic! Love! Love!

Thank you Nadeen. The boards are two crates joined together. I usually use vinyls, but the wood effect vinyls aren't very convincing I've found. The lighter vinyls work though but that wasn't what I wanted here.

Oh, I love looking at old pictures. They are such a treasure. And you are right, we need to print our own work more often. I have done this over the last more. And I love the quote from Aimee. Beautiful.

Thank you Amy. Yes, love black and white images.... they are so timeless.

Yes Lori, I totally agree. It's important to print photos. They bring back so many nostalgic moments that could get lost on a computer drive. Precious.

Thank you Iris. Good to hear you are printing your images off. Loved your recent images from the CM conference. What great memories meeting so many photography friends from different parts of the USA and making new friends.
I love looking at old photographs and knowing the stories of my ancestors. There’s something awe-inspiring about learning where I came from and what those who came before me had to go through. Thank you for this lovely reminder!

That's so true Emily. It is indeed good to learn these things.

What a beautiful collection of both words and images Wendy, I love the muted tones you've used.
Funnily enough I've been carrying an idea for a project in my mind that revolves around old images and the passage of time!
