Serenity Circle - November 2018

Welcome to November's Serenity Circle - a monthly collaborative project sharing images and moments reflecting peace and calm.

Recently, whilst out walking in the countryside, I couldn't help but feel a tinge of sadness looking around at all the bare bone trees that up until recently were clothed in the most gorgeous rich autumnal colours.  Continuing on my way, I spotted a few small leaves ensnared in tiny spider webs dotted along the hedgerows.  I welcomed the sight of these because they provided tiny splashes of colour in an otherwise washed out landscape.

Further along the path, I could hear a snapping sound overhead.  Looking up, I could see one of the few remaining leaves had given up clinging to its branch.  I watched it flutter about in the wind before coming to rest on a branch where it dangled precariously in the wind.

It's sad watching the beautiful autumn fade away, but there is also something bittersweet about autumn waving its final farewell to the year.  As I headed for home, I was reminded that all such is making way for a brand new season - one which includes log fires radiating warmth and a cosy atmosphere throughout the home.  Changing into warm fleecy pj's after a hot shower in the evening.  And lying in bed with the curtains drawn back watching uninterrupted star studded skies.....  not to mention a whole host of other beautiful hygge moments to prepare for and enjoy this coming winter!

It was beginning to get dark.  I could see the village lights just up ahead.  I quickened my step - not far to go.....

No, this is not the beginning of a new chapter in my life; this is the beginning of a new book! That first book is already closed, ended, and tossed into the seas; this new book is newly opened, has just begun! Look, it is the first page! And it is a beautiful one!” -- C Joy Bell

..... I turned the key in the lock, opened the kitchen door and stepped inside.  The warmth immediately wrapped itself around me.  I switched on the kettle, changed out of my jacket and boots, and poured myself a hot cuppa.  Choosing a good book, I sat down in my favourite comfy chair beside the fire.  Ahhh,..... uploading my photos can wait until later.  For now, I'm enjoying a few serenity moments and drinking it all in!  "Goodbye autumn.....  see you next year, DV."  "Hello winter!"  💞

Next in the circle is Janet Broughton from Definitely Dreaming.  I thoroughly admire Janet's beautiful style of photography.  Her artwork is truly inspirational.  So sit back, and get ready to enjoy the "Last Leaves of Autumn" and continue to follow the circle around.

Oh, such beautiful images, Wendy. I always enjoy reading your words of warmth. Your last image is so welcoming, and could see myself sitting in your comfy chair, and chat with you for hours upon end.
Thank you so much for your continued inspiration, and participation in the serenity blog circle.

Wonderful post and I especially love your last photo. The word “hygge” - not one I was familiar with so I had to look it up. What a descriptive, soothing word.

Thank you so much Nancy. I only came across this word this past year. I love what it stands for but if I could rename it, I would call it nostalgia. I'm a sucker for nostalgia.
